Swansea University Wins Whatuni Award For Best Courses And Lecturers
Swansea University has won the 2016 WhatUni award for Best Courses and Lecturers, it was revealed at a London awards ceremony on 15 April. Swansea also came second in the UK for its international work, and third for University of the Year and Clubs and Societies.
The Whatuni Student Rankings are based on averages taken from thousands of reviews submitted by students and published on Whatuni.com.
The WhatUni rankings, which are now in their third year, offer prospective students an unbiased, student-led alternative to traditional university ranking systems.
Over the last year, 25,000 reviews were collected; 125 universities met the minimum threshold to be considered for a Student Choice Award; and 39 universities have received a nomination.

Professor Steve Wilks, Pro-Vice-Chancellor at Swansea University, said:
“We are delighted to have won the WhatUni award for Best Courses and Lecturers. Swansea did very well across the board: shortlisted in nine out of the possible ten categories, second in the UK for our international work, and third in the UK for our clubs and societies, and for University of the Year, which we won in 2014.
Students are at the heart of what we do, and we achieve these awards by listening to our students, and working in partnership with them.
“Swansea University is committed to providing an exceptional student experience. The awards reflect our focus on creating an inspiring learning experience, and a supportive and stimulating environment for the rounded development of our students.”
Simon Emmett, CEO of Whatuni.com parent company Hotcourses Group, added:
“The WUSCAs inspire and guide students of all backgrounds to make the right university choice for them. With the 2016 results so closely following the Green Paper and consultation focussing on student choice, teaching excellence, and social mobility, there has never been a more crucial time to collect and analyse student satisfaction ratings from across the UK.
We’re very proud of the work our team have accomplished in order to produce this year’s rankings, which sees 14 new institutions included, and a 25% growth in sample size, as more students discover the importance of their own voice in changing policy not just at their chosen institution, but across the entire sector.”
