Bid for Bungalow in Garden of Rejected Pontypool Housing Plans Made
A BID to build a bungalow in the garden of a home where a plan for two new houses was previously rejected has been made.
Planners rejected an application in 2020 to build two new detached homes in front of Fordell House which was built on Stoney Road in Garndiffaith, Pontypool after planning permission was granted in 2010.
An application by Rob Henderson, of Fordell House, has set out how concerns around overdevelopment and overlooking are addressed, including the placement of windows within the proposed two bedroom bungalow.
The site is described as “a vacant building plot located within a private garden pertaining to Fordell House.”
Planting will be used to screen views of Fordell House and properties named Penycae House to the south east and Vicotria House to the south west.
A statement included with the application also explains the approach to design and says: “All too often current house designs are a pastiche of imitated architectural styles found across the Torfaen County Borough Council new build estates.
“Our design has been kept simple, using a limited palette of colours and choice of materials, albeit that these are in keeping with the traditional character of the area.”
Vehicle access to Stoney Road will be retained and the new bungalow will have three off-road parking spaces.
