Boating Lake Car Park Closed On Thursday

The southern carpark at Cwmbran Boating Lake will close on Thursday 14 April to for final refurbishment work to be completed and parking bays to be marked. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The car park should reopen the next day, however, this will be subject to the weather conditions and may change at short notice. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The Boat House Café and toilets will remain open as usual and visitors can make use the car parks at the nearby Llanyrafon Golf Club and Llanyrafon Manor, and at Southfields. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The car park has been extended to create additional parking spaces and provide dedicated disabled bays. There have also been improvements to footways, and a sustainable drainage system installed to help address issues of flooding in wet weather. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The work has been funded by Section 106 Agreements from local housing developments allocated to provide improvements to recreational facilities and public open space in the area. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
