Dementia Friendly business breakfast
A breakfast event to help businesses become more accessible to customers with dementia is being held at Pontnewydd Golf Club on Thursday 25 February from 7:15am.
The free event, which is being hosted by Torfaen Business Voice, will help businesses gain a better understanding of dementia, improve their communication with customers living with the condition, and also provide greater support to staff who may be supporting someone with dementia.
The event will start with a free breakfast with networking, followed by a 45 minute training session, after which businesses will be certified ‘Dementia Friends’.
Torfaen council’s executive member for health, social care and well-being, councillor Richard Clark, said: “Dementia is a major concern, with one in 14 people over 65 years of age living with dementia. This often has a great impact on family members who will take on a caring role for loved ones.
“I hope that this event will help to make Torfaen a friendlier environment for those with dementia to visit, and that extend our Dementia Friendly Community across Torfaen.”
