Pupils from Llanyrafon Primary School have helped to sow wild flower seeds at the newly renovated car park at Cwmbran Boating Lake.
They planted a sea of colourful flowers such as corn-cockle, cornflower, oxeye daisy and field poppy, and also some flowering cherry trees.
The car park has recently been extended to more than 40 marked parking spaces, as well as dedicated disabled bays nearer to the boating lake facilities. A sustainable drainage system has been installed to help address issues of flooding in wet weather.
The work was funded by Section 106 monies from local housing developments allocated to provide improvements to recreational facilities and public open space in the area.
Croesyceiliog and Llanyrafon Community Council have also provided additional funding for new bins and benches to be installed, and trees and wild flowers to be planted around the car park.
