Singer-songwriter Tobias Robertson, who recently featured on BBC’s The Voice, will headline this year’s Cwmbran Big Event. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Twenty two year-old Tobias, who is the great nephew of the late Cilla Black, was chosen by Boy George to join his team of singers following his performance of the Randy Newman favourite, You’ve Got a Friend in Me. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

He went on to compete in the battle rounds and is now busy writing and recording material for a new album. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

He said: “Being on the Voice was a great experience and I learnt a lot from Boy George and the other judges. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“I really appreciated everyone who voted for me and this is a chance for me to put on a great show to say thank you to everyone for their support.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Tobias will headline a packed stage at the event, which takes place on Saturday 11 June from 12pm until 5pm. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

As well as music and dance acts there will be sporting competitions, a raft race, a kiddies fun fair, farm animals from Greenmeadow Community farm, and climbing wall, as well as a host of other activities and a huge variety of stalls. For the first time there will also be a laser tag arena. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Regular updates on the event, including details of stalls, exhibitions, performing artists and activities, will appear on www.torfaen.gov.uk/thebigevent ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
