Volunteers to be recognised at Play Service awards ceremony
Torfaen Play Service will be holding its annual awards ceremony for play service volunteers on Monday 22nd February.
The ceremony recognises the hard work and commitment from over 140 play service volunteers who have given up their spare time to support community play provision. Play workers will be telling their personal accounts of why they volunteer at the event, and previous play workers will be talking about how volunteering has helped them obtain university placements and achieve employment within teaching and social work.
The awards will pay recognition to term time volunteers, summer volunteers, play helpers and transitional support workers. A special award for outstanding commitment to volunteering will be presented by the High Sheriff to the Volunteer of the Year 2016.
The executive member for communities, councillor David Daniels commented: “Torfaen Play continues to be a highly successful service thanks to both its organisers and its fantastic team of volunteers.
“Volunteer play workers offer vital support for all children who take part in the Play Service, including children with disabilities; aiding their health, well-being and happiness.”
The event will take place at Mount Pleasant Hall in Pontnewydd. Refreshments will be served from 6pm with the awards starting promptly at 6:30pm.
