Art Central’s Holocaust Exhibition Due To End
AN exhibition reflecting on the horrors of the holocaust will soon close at the Vale of Glamorgan Council-run Art Central gallery.
The public have one last week to view the exhibition before it ends on Saturday, February 25. Art Central is open between 10am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 3.30 on Saturday.
Inspired by unique quotes from people across the world, the exhibition displays a series of statements and artworks by artists, individuals and organisations who have participated in Holocaust Memorial exhibitions over the past 10 years.
The statements impact on the audience, encouraging them to reflect on our own lives and the continued problems in the world.
The gallery is also hosting an exhibition titled Through the Eyes of Children from the National Federation of Gypsy Liaison Groups.
This exhibition tells the story of the Romani genocide Porrajmos mostly through the eyes of young people who witnessed what happened during this horrendous time. The exhibition follows the stories of Roma children through some of the most destructive events of 20th Century history.
Vale of Glamorgan Council Deputy Mayor, Cllr Eddie Williams and Deputy Leader, Cllr Lis Burnett helped launch the exhibition, when Emeritus Professor Tony Curtis read his award-winning poem Soup about an imaginary meal between a mother and daughter.
