Council keeps Vale moving
The Vale of Glamorgan Council’s highways team were out in force on Monday and Tuesday working to keep roads across the Vale open in the wake of two days of heavy storms.
A total of twenty eight fallen branches and trees were removed from the Vale’s highways network on Monday alone as the Council responded to call outs from Wenvoe to Llandow and many places in between. While in Llantwit Major, emergency work was undertaken to clear fallen debris from the beach road car park.
Cllr Gwyn John, Cabinet Member for Visible Services and Leisure, praised the work of the team: “Our hardworking staff respond to out of hours call outs in even the worst weather. All incidents reported during this week’s storms were dealt with quickly and efficiently, particularly those that occurred during peak travel times.
“Thanks to the dedication and hard work of our staff the Council was able to minimise the impact of Storm Imogen on the travelling public. The fact that there were no major disruptions to travel in the Vale is a testament to their tireless work.”
