Hockey Takes The Vale Of Glamorgan By Storm
One hundred and fifty eight pupils from nine primary schools across the Vale of Glamorgan have taken part in the Primary School Hockey Festivals held at Barry and Cowbridge.
Organised by Hockey Wales in partnership with Vale Council Sports Development team, the festivals formed part of the Dragon Sport programme.
Pupils from Romilly, Sully, Y Bont Faen and St Baruc gathered at Bryn Hafren Comprehensive School to take part in a series of 7 a side hockey matches with no goalkeepers, which made for some very open games. Y Bont Faen primary was the overall dominant force , with their teams winning both festivals.
Dragon Sport is a Sport Wales scheme administered locally by the Vale Council’s Sports Development team. It forms part of the Active Young People programme and aims to increase the number of 7-11 year olds participating in sport.
