This article is old - Published: Monday, Oct 10th, 2016

Are you part of a sports club within the Vale of Glamorgan or an organisation who delivers, or would like to deliver, some sport for Vale residents? ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Sports Development team are holding a community club open day/evening on Tuesday 18 October to which representatives of your club are invited to attend. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Members of the Sports Development team will be at the Barry YMCA Hub, Court Road, Barry from 3pm to 8pm, during which time your representatives can pop in and speak to a member of the team. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The team are able to assist with a range of areas, including Community Chest applications – a grant scheme that awards financial support to organisations proposing ideas for getting people in the Vale of Glamorgan more active, more often – whose deadline is 10 November. Other areas of funding are also able to be discussed, as well as club-development planning and the development of additional opportunities. The development of school-club links can also be raised, as can coach development and volunteer recruitment. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Cllr. Gwyn John, Cabinet Member for Visible, Leisure and Regulatory Services, commented: “Our teams at Sports Development and Play have a love of sport, and a passion for increasing the number of people taking part in sports and play opportunities across the Vale of Glamorgan. Events like this are significant, because the team are able to pass on their knowledge to like-minded individuals/clubs across the Vale who also wish to deliver sport to people in the Vale.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The information drop-in session is open to all groups/organisations who wish to develop sporting activities. Any interested groups should contact Rachel Shepherd, Sports Development, on 07730 749485m or by e-mailing rlshepherd@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
