The Vale Of Glamorgan Celebrates Her Majesty’s 90th Birthday

To celebrate The Queen’s 90th Birthday, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales will invite Her Majesty The Queen to light the Principal Beacon on 21st April at Windsor Castle. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

This will be followed by the lighting of a number of Beacons along the Long Walk, Windsor Great Park, including one at the Copper Horse, and then over 2,200 beacons will be lit throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, UK overseas Territories and a Commonwealth Country to celebrate this landmark birthday. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Many different organisations are taking part from all areas of the local community by lighting Beacons, including Cowbridge and Llantwit Major. The Beacons on top of the Four Peaks will be lit at 7.15pm with all other Beacons being lit ay 8.30pm. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The Cowbridge Beacon is situated at the Rugby Club Athletic Ground. There will be entertainment by local choirs from 6pm. The Beacon will be lit at 7.30 pm. The evening ends with a firework display and concert. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The Llantwit Major Beacon will be one of the last to be lit at 8.30pm. By kind permission of Rosedew Farm, the Beacon will be situated 20m from the coastal path. Parking will be adjacent to Acorn Camping and the public will need to walk past the solar park (approx 1000m). ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The public are welcome at both events. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
