The Vale Of Glamorgan Council Has Agreed To Spend £100,000 To Upgrade Penarth’s Cliff Top Play Area As Part Of Widespread Playground Improvement Plans
That investment was rubber-stamped when the Council met on Monday.
The Cliff Top play area is among the most popular in the region, attracting visitors from far outside the locality.
The significant sum set to be spent will help modernise the play area, with the aim of making it even more attractive to the public.
A complete refurbishment is planned to turn the play area into a cutting-edge facility for children to enjoy.
It is hoped it will contain some bold, attention-grabbing features.
The public can have their say on what they would like in the new play area by visiting the Council website and completing an online survey.
There will also be a drop-in session, offering people the opportunity to make their views heard.
This improvement is part of an overall £200,000 investment from the council in playgrounds.
Cwrt y Vil and Peterswell Road are other play areas in line for similar improvements.
That continues a widespread recent investment in play area facilities.
Cllr Lis Burnett, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Education, said: “These proposals will see a significant sum invested to update the Cliff Tops play area and other playgrounds and is part of an ongoing programme of investment in such facilities across the Vale.
“The improvements are part of an ongoing ambitious programme of works to upgrade playgrounds in Penarth and the Vale with several more play area enhancements planned over the next 12 months.
“It is hoped we can provide, modern, safe and exciting areas for children to enjoy.
“I would encourage people to complete the online survey or attend the drop-in session so they can have an input into what features the play area will contain.”
