Travellers Move On, But The Clear Up Begins

This article is old - Published: Saturday, Aug 13th, 2016

Following decisive action by the Vale of Glamorgan Council, the travellers occupying Stalling Down, Cowbridge, have now moved on. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Being a popular spot for walkers, and used regularly by locals and visitors all year around, the Council worked quickly to resolve the situation. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

A strict legal process must be adhered to before travellers occupying an area can be moved on. An initial welfare assessment established that there were no health and wellbeing issues, which allowed the Council to issue the group with a deadline by which to leave the area. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The group then left of their own accord ahead of the Council’s deadline. Council officers are currently working to restore the area to its former state and to consider what action can be taken to prevent this happening again. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
