Vale Council Raises Awareness Of Open Register
As part of the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s annual canvass, households in the Vale of Glamorgan have received Household Enquiry Forms asking residents to check that the information that appears on the Electoral Register for that address is correct.
The aim is to ensure that the Electoral Register is accurate and up-to-date; it also aims to identify any residents who are currently not registered to vote (so that they can be encouraged to do so).
This opportunity also allows residents to change their Open Register Status.
The Open Register is an extract of the Electoral Register – or, Electoral Roll – which lists the names and addresses of everyone who has registered to vote. The Open Register, however, is not used for elections, but can be bought by any person, company or organisation.
One of the main purposes of the Open Register is for marketing.
Your name and address will be included in the Open Register unless you ask for them to be removed. Doing so will not affect your right to vote or your credit score, and you can opt out of the register at any time.
