Vale Of Glamorgan Council Teams Up With The Place For Homes To Give Those In Need Free Furniture
VALE of Glamorgan Council has teamed up with The Place For Homes furniture store in Llandow to offer free sofas and chairs to those most in need within the County.
Before Christmas, The Place For Homes Managing Director Rhian Francis was alerted to the plight of many within the Vale struggling to find somewhere to live.
In addition to housing, such individuals also often require furniture.
More than 15 brand new sofas were selected for distribution to those in that situation through the Council’s housing department.
They are being delivered free by The Place for Homes, beginning next week.
“We contacted the Council who were delighted with the proposition and shocked that brand new quality sofas and chairs were going to be given away free,” said Ms Francis.
“All the sofas and chairs on offer were brand new, meeting all relevant fire regulations. They are from leading brands brand and could retail at more than £1500.
“This initiative is ongoing and discussions have already begun to provide dining furniture, beds and bedroom furniture to those that need it in the future.”
Cllr Bronwen Brooks, Cabinet Member for Housing and Social Care & Health, said: “We are extremely grateful to The Place For Homes for such a generous gesture.
“A number of people have no furniture at all after being rehomed. This furniture will be given to some of the Vale’s most vulnerable people, making their domestic lives more comfortable, often after periods of homelessness.”
