Volunteers Needed For Penarth Running Sessions

This article is old - Published: Sunday, Aug 28th, 2016

The Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Sports & Play Development team have begun their search for volunteers interested in leading, and assisting, running sessions for teenagers in Penarth. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The Sports & Play Development team, whose aims include increasing the number of people taking part in sports and play opportunities to increase their health and wellbeing, often refer to the National School Sports Survey for ideas on what their next initiative might be. The 2015 survey revealed that the number one activity teenage girls would like to try is running. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Consequently, the Vale’s Sports & Play Development team are now trying to set up a new social running group in Penarth with the help of Women Running Penarth. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

If you would like to help organise the girls’ teen-running sessions, give the Sports & Play Development team a call on 07929360937, or e-mail slwilkinson@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

A leadership qualification in running fitness is desirable but not essential, as training can be provided. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
