Youth Mayor Elections 2016
This year’s Local Democracy Week (LDW) takes place this week – between 10-14 October – and is aiming to encourage young people to get involved in local politics.
This year sees young people throughout the Vale of Glamorgan taking part in the third Youth Mayor election campaign.
This year’s candidates include Daley Chapman, aged 15 from Barry Comprehensive School, Daniel Marshall, aged 16 from Cowbridge Comprehensive School, and Rhys Powell, aged 14 from Barry Comprehensive School.
The candidates are current members of the Vale of Glamorgan Youth Cabinet and Vale Youth Forum, and have created manifestos which can be watched on the Vale Youth Service YouTube page.
Similar to previous years, the Youth Mayor election campaign will be taken on the road to different secondary schools, training providers, youth clubs and youth organisations across the Vale of Glamorgan to ensure as many young people aged between 11-25 have the opportunity to vote.
