A48 Nantycaws Re-Opens Earlier Than Scheduled
We have received confirmation from Valero (oil refinery) and the South Wales Trunk Roads Agent that the planned work undertaken on the eastbound carriageway of the A48 at Nantycaws has been completed. At 10pm on Sunday evening, 30th October 2016, the carriageway was re-opened, two days ahead of schedule. This is good news for road users in Carmarthen and surrounding areas.
Chief Inspector Peter Roderick of the Specialist Operations Department for Dyfed-Powys Police said:
“The end of the essential work on the A48, and the re-opening of the eastbound carriageway will be a relief to all motorists and people living locally on the diversion route who have endured weeks of disruption and inconvenience. We are grateful to the public for the patience they have shown over this period.
A command room was set up at police headquarters to safely oversee the opening of the carriageway and comprised of key partners. No incidents were reported in the operation.
