Chief Officer Of Special Constabulary Shortlisted In Prestigious St David Awards

Our Chief Officer of Special Constabulary, Cairn Newton-Evans has been shortlisted in the prestigious St David Awards (‘Citizen Award’ category). ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Cairn volunteers up to 50 hours of his own time each month, working to assist us in policing our communities. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

He joined Dyfed-Powys Police after suffering a brutal attack as an 18 year old; targeted because of his sexuality. He did this because he wanted to prevent others from suffering what he had experienced. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Upon hearing of Cairn’s success in being selected as a finalist, Chief Constable Mark Collins, who himself began his career with Dyfed-Powys Police as a volunteer Officer, said: ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
