Dyfed-Powys Police is inviting all Royal Welsh Show visitors to its garden-party themed marquee and take part in The Big Conversation. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The sofas and games are in place, grass flooring down and bunting up ahead of the big event, which starts in Builth Wells on Monday, July 18. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Visitors will be able to explore a police vehicle, meet a police dog, dress up as a police officer of Police Community Support Officer and pose for photos at an Instagram photo booth. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Venture inside and relax in the comfy seating area and take part in The Big Conversation. People will be asked a few informal questions about their experiences of the police and what they expect from officers. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

To allow people to chat without distractions from the children there will be a special children’s area where they can have their fingerprints taken, colour a police-themed picture and play a giant police-themed garden game. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Superintendent Robyn Mason for Powys said: “Come take the weight off your feet and join in the fun at our garden party-themed marquee. We’re providing an inviting setting for people to relax, meet police officers and specialist staff and join in the Big Conversation. We’ll be asking people about their experiences with the police, what they expect from us and what we can be better at. There will also be ample opportunity for visitors to get valuable guidance on how to protect themselves from crime, in particular cyber-crime and scams, which are an increasing concern.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Visitors will also be able to test their knowledge of how to appropriately use the police 101 and 999 telephone numbers and get involved in keeping their communities safer by signing up to the new Dyfed Powys Community Messaging system. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

There will be police experts from Financial Crime Team and Digital Communications and Cyber Crime Unit ready to carry out checks on privacy and security settings on phones, tablets and laptops at the tech Health Check zone. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

In addition to the marquee and foot patrol policing presence, there will this year be a Mobile Police Station located near the cattle ring. Police Community Support Officers will be there offering advice and guidance on rural policing issues. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
