Four men from the Brecon area were convicted and have been sentenced before Merthyr Crown Court for conspiracy to supply cocaine and cannabis offences in Breconshire. This follows a protracted and thorough investigation, and determination on the part of officers seeking to disrupt the supply of drugs and the associated harm to our communities. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

21 year old Joel Jacobi, 20 year old Aaron McCarthy, and 24 year old Jamie Cross were each sentenced to 4 ½ years imprisonment with a direction to serve the full terms. 22 year old Bishal Gurung was sentenced to 10 months imprisonment for conspiracy to supply cannabis. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Chief Inspector Matt Scrase said: “This is an excellent result for the Breconshire community, and one that serves as a warning to others who deal in illegal substances. It will not be tolerated. Drugs misuse creates significant harm to our communities, and it is a priority for us to tackle those conspiring to bring drugs into those communities, and ensure they pay the price if they decide to flout the law and put people’s lives in danger in this manner. We cannot underestimate the persistence and dedication of the officers who succeeded in bringing this case before the court. This result will go a long way towards keeping our communities safe.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Detective Sergeant Gareth Grant added: “I’d like to thank my team of officers who worked so diligently in order to get this result, and the praise they received for the quality of the evidence they produced is testament to their professionalism. These four defendants will join another 12 who are currently serving sentences totalling 47 years for drug trafficking in the South Powys area, thanks to the work of this team over the past two years. But we are not complacent, and will continue to target those intent on causing harm to communities in South Powys by supplying drugs. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
