Call For Sporting Nominations

Nominations are being invited for the 2016 Montgomeryshire Annual Sports Awards. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The accolades recognise and celebrate the sporting success of local individuals and teams involved in sport at all levels. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

This year’s categories include: ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

• Sports Personality of the Year
• Junior Sports Personality U12’s, U14’s & U18’s
• Disabled Sportsperson of the Year
• Junior and Senior Sports Team of the Year
• Club of the Year
• Volunteer of the Year
• Young Sports Leader of the Year
• Coach of the Year ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The awards are co-ordinated by Powys County Council’s North Powys Sports Development Unit and are sponsored by McDonalds, Newtown. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Cllr Graham Brown, Cabinet Member for Sports Development, said: “These awards are a celebration of local sporting achievement and an opportunity to recognise the invaluable contribution of local volunteers and coaches. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“If you know someone who deserves to be nominated, I would urge you to submit your nomination quickly.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Entries will be judged by a panel including County Councillors and volunteers representing a variety of sports. Nominations can be received from any individual involved in schools or sports within Montgomeryshire. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Results will be announced at an awards evening at The Hafren in Newtown on Friday 27 January 2017. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
