NRW Investigates Pollution Incident
Natural Resources Wales (NRW) has received a number of reports of the river Ebbw appearing white and officers are on site investigating the cause.
We are currently unaware of any fish having been harmed as a result of this incident.
Jacob Birch, Natural Resource Manager for NRW, said:
“Our initial assessments has found that over a two miles of the River Ebbw down stream of Crumlin have been affected. We anticipate finding the source shortly and will be taking action to stop the pollution”.
“We have been able to respond rapidly to this incident thanks to calls from members of the public to our incident hotline on 03000 65 3000.”

Natural Resources Wales (NRW) has discovered the source of a recent pollution incident on the River Ebbw and has restored the water flow to normal.
NRW is continuing to assess the full impact on river life and is currently unaware of any fish having been harmed as a result of this incident.
Jacob Birch, Natural Resource Manager for NRW, said:
“Over two miles of the River Ebbw down stream of Crumlin were found to be significantly discoloured by this incident. We identified the source and have put a stop to any further pollution, the discolouration however will take some time to fully clear.”
