Appeal For Info As Straying King Charles Spaniel Found In ‘Horrendous State’ In Merthyr
A King Charles spaniel found has been found in Merthyr Tydfil in a horrendous state, prompting a plea for information from RSPCA Cymru.
The chestnut-coloured, dog – known as Robin – was rescued by the RSPCA after he was found straying in Merthyr Tydfil on Tuesday, 1 November at around 5pm, by a local resident.
When rescued by RSPCA Cymru, the dog was staggering, with very heavily matted fur and was full of fleas. He was very underweight, and though wearing a collar, his owner could not be identified. Though Robin was microchipped, the details were not up-to-date.
RSPCA Cymru is seeking information as to how the dog was able to get into such poor condition, and whether he may have been abandoned. The dog is continuing to recover following the ordeal.
Gemma Cooper, RSPCA inspector, said;
“This poor dog was, quite simply, in an utterly horrendous state. Thankfully, he was spotted by a passer-by, and we were able to rescue him.
“We are appealing for any information which could help us find out how Robin got into this condition, and why he was found straying away from his home.
