Cat Rescued Seven Metres Up A Treorchy Tree

RSPCA Cymru and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service have teamed-up to save a cat trapped up a Treorchy tree. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The charity was alerted after the male cat – named Moritz – became trapped seven metres up a tree in the Blaenrhondda area, on 12 March. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

RSPCA Cymru attended, and enlisted the support of the South Wales Fire & Rescue Service who used ladders to reach Moritz and bring him back to safety. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Moritz is now safely back with his owner, following his ordeal. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Simon Evans, RSPCA inspector, said: ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“RSPCA Cymru was pleased to work with a crew from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service to help Moritz. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“This incident was another example of the great things we can do for animals, and their welfare, by working closely in partnership. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“It’s always nice to be involved in a happy ending – and it was great to be able to help reunite Moritz with his owner.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Maria Marchl, Moritz’s owner, said: ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“Moritz is an adventurous cat, and this is the second time he has got himself stuck up a tree – this time an oak tree! ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“I rescued Moritz three years ago. I’m so happy he is safely back home after this ordeal, and am very grateful to the RSPCA and the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service for helping him.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
