Buzz Flies Free! Heartwarming Moment Buzzard Returns To Wild Captured On Camera

A buzzard found with a broken wing has been released back into the wild by the RSPCA, following his rescue and recovery. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The juvenile bird was admitted to RSPCA West Hatch in Somerset after he was rescued from a shed in Brynglas Drive, Newport on 15 July. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Six weeks after his admission the buzzard’s wing was fully healed and he was recovered and rested enough to be returned to the wild on Sunday. (4 September) ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Now RSPCA staff have captured the magical moment he flew back to the wild on camera for everyone to enjoy! ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Manager at RSPCA West Hatch Bel Deering described the moment the bird flew free as an ‘uplifting moment’. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

She said: “Releasing this bird back into the wild was an absolute pleasure. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“The staff here are fantastic and worked so hard to bring this buzzard back up to full strength so he could go back where he belongs. It is awful to think about what some of the animals have been through when they come into our care – and this buzzard is just one example of thousands. To be able to rehabilitate them and then release them like this is just the most wonderful thing – it is what we are here for.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
