Couple Banned From Keeping Dogs After ‘Thinnest Huskies Ever Seen’ Found By RSPCA
A Cwmbran couple have been banned from keeping dogs for two years, with an RSPCA inspector commenting how the pair had allowed husky dogs to become “the thinnest” she had ever seen.
Mr Graham Hoy (d.o.b 26/7/1981), and Ms Elisa Vaux (d.o.b 25/1/1991), of Neerings, Coed Eva, each pleaded guilty to two offences at Cwmbran Magistrates Court on Monday 9 January, in a case concerning four husky dogs.
The pair were ordered to each pay £360 defendant costs, and an £85 victim surcharge. Both defendants were also handed a 12-month community order, of 100 hours unpaid work.
In September, RSPCA inspector Sophie Daniels found four huskies – named Cloud, Diesel, Delta and Asher – at the property, with the dogs appearing in an emaciated state, with bones visible through their coats.
Three of the four husky dogs were later signed over into RSPCA care, and their condition dramatically improved without medical attention, following good care and attention. The couple will now be deprived of ownership of the fourth husky, whilst a fifth dog they owned will also be confiscated.
RSPCA inspector Sophie Daniels said:
“These were the thinnest husky dogs I’d ever seen. It’s hard to imagine what these dogs had been through to reach this condition, particularly for dogs of this breed.
“Fortunately, the condition of those dogs signed-over to the RSPCA improved dramatically, solely through the provision of good food and proper care.
