Free Dog Microchipping Sessions In Gwynedd

Two free microchipping sessions for dogs are to be held in Gwynedd. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

RSPCA West Gwynedd Branch will be holding a session at Noddfa Cil Peblig, Caernarfon (LL55 2RS) from 11am to 4pm on Saturday 19 March and then a second event at St Joseph’s Hall, Ffordd Mela, Pwllheli (LL53 5AP) from 11am to 4pm on Saturday 9 April. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Both events will be using the RSPCA Aberconwy Branch Mobile Clinic, with a vet carrying out the microchipping. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

RSPCA West Gwynedd Branch Chairwoman Ann Rees said: “Microchipping is so very important as it is a very effective way of ID’ing your pet and helps to reunite owners with their pets, whether lost, strayed or stolen. But of course the details must be kept updated for it to work. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“We are holding these events as from 6 April – it will become a legal requirement for dogs to be microchipped in Wales. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“We’re offering this as a free service to all in order to get dogs compliant with the new regulations that are coming in, but donations will be most welcome of course!” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The RSPCA would like to remind people to get their pets microchipped as it gives them the best chance of being identified and returned home if they become lost or stolen. It is also important to register the chip with a national database and update your contact details if you move house or change phone number.
