RSPCA Cymru Appeal For Information After Dog Abandoned And Tied To Railings
RSPCA Cymru is appealing for information after a dog was found abandoned and tied to railings in Merthyr Tydfil.
The RSPCA were contacted after a black taxi was reportedly seen to stop at The Green, Trefechan, in the late evening on Friday (30 September) with someone getting out and tying the dog to the railings.
RSPCA inspector Keith Hogben was called to attend to the black and tan German Shepherd cross dog who was also described to be injured.
“When I arrived you could tell this poor dog was so scared – I sat with him for 40 minutes before I was able to coax him into a kennel with some food,” he said.
“Luckily he wasn’t in fact injured, but it was clear he had been through an awful ordeal.
“We’ve been told that he was dropped off by someone in a black taxi, but unfortunately we don’t have a registration number or a description of who actually tied him to the railings.”
The dog is now in RSPCA care and is doing well.
Inspector Hogben said: “We don’t know who he belongs to as even though he has been microchipped, the details have not been updated. We are currently viewing some CCTV footage to try and find out what happened.

RSPCA Cymru would like to remind people to get their pets microchipped as it gives them the best chance of being identified and returned home if they become lost or stolen. It is also important to register the chip with a national database and update your contact details if you move house or change phone number.
Since April it has been a legal requirement for dogs in Wales to be microchipped and for the details to be kept up to date.
