South Wales West AM Goes Out On Call With RSPCA Inspectorate

ASSEMBLY Member for South Wales West, Suzy Davies, has accompanied the RSPCA inspectorate on several calls in and around the region. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The ride-along on Thursday 15 September gave Mrs Davies a chance to experience what RSPCA officers deal with on a daily basis. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Mrs Davies along with RSPCA animal welfare officer Andrew Harris dealt with a number of routine calls in and around the Swansea area, including a range of welfare concerns about cats and dogs. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Assembly Member for South Wales West, Suzy Davies, said: “Even in the day-to-day visits we made, it is was clear to me that RSPCA have a real mix of issues to deal with. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“I really admire the sensitive way in which animal welfare officers, like Andrew who I accompanied, deal with some extremely sensitive cases.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

RSPCA animal welfare officer Andrew Harris said: “I was very pleased to have the opportunity to demonstrate the work RSPCA’s officers do each and every day to help and protect animals. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“The RSPCA in Wales receives approximately 50,000 calls each year and the breadth of visits made on this particular day highlights the diversity of issues we deal with in the interests of animal welfare.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

A number of Assembly Members and Members of Parliament across Wales have spent days-out with local RSPCA inspectors, gaining valuable insight into the work the Society does to uphold and improve standards of animal welfare. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
