Tribute To Councillor Peter Owen
The Chairman of Denbighshire, Councillor Gwyneth Kensler has paid tribute to Councillor Peter Owen, who has sadly passed away after a long illness.
Peter Owen was elected to represent Dyserth on Denbighshire County Council in June 2004 and was successful in being re-elected in 2008 and 2012. Councillor Owen also served on Dyserth Community Council from 1999, and had served as Chair of the Community Council.
Prior to his County and Community Council duties he had been a member and a former mayor of Rhuddlan Borough Council and served on Prestatyn Town Council. In addition to his local authority duties, Councillor Owen had been a member of the governing bodies of a number of local schools.
Councillor Owen was a builder and developer before his retirement, running his own business for many years.
He was married with four children.
Councillor Gwyneth Kensler, said: “It was with great sadness that we learnt of Peter’s passing after a long illness. He was a great champion for Dyserth and worked tirelessly to improve the quality of life for residents right until the very end. He also worked closely with his fellow councillors and staff at the Council during his three terms with Denbighshire.
“He was considerate, polite and fair minded and will be greatly missed by us all at the Council”
