Confidence In What We Eat

Flintshire County Council’s Cabinet will be asked to approve the county’s Food Service Plan 2016-17 when it meets on Tuesday, 21 June. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The plan has been produced by officers of the Food Safety and Standards Team and it sets out how the service will be delivered in this financial year and also reviews performance during the last financial year. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The Food Service Plan covers food safety (the enforcement of food safety and food hygiene legislation in all food establishments in the county, food standards (checking establishments and dealing with complaints) and feed (visits to feed premises, providing information and dealing with complaints). ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Flintshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Public Protection, Councillor Kevin Jones, said: ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“By approving this year’s Food Service Plan, the Cabinet will ensure that the high level food safety and hygiene already established within the county will continue. Our Food Safety and Standards team works extremely hard to ensure that the residents of Flintshire can have confidence in a high level of hygiene when it comes to food. The Plan follows the ‘farm to fork’ principle to ensure food is safe is safe to eat.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
