100% Student Satisfaction For Variety Of Courses At Wrexham Glyndwr University

Wrexham Glyndwr University is celebrating 100% student satisfaction in a wide variety of subjects. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The University obtained the top figure for Applied Arts; Education and Childhood Studies; Health, Wellbeing and Community; Occupational Therapy, and Youth and Community Work. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The results were taken from the National Student Survey and refer to the 2015/16 academic year. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Computer Game Development (MComp) and Housing and Sustainable Communities Studies also achieved 100% over the combined years 2014/15 and 2015/16. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Across the board, up to 40 subject areas attained a score of 85% and above. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Overall, the institution increased student satisfaction by 5% points to 85%, and was ranked top in Wales for assessment and feedback, timetabling, building confidence and personal development. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Wrexham Glyndwr was also second in the country for advice on choices and study support, and saw a rise in satisfaction in communication and personal development. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Vice Chancellor, Professor Maria Hinfelaar, said the positive news comes at a busy time, as students prepare to begin and continue their studies in north east Wales. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“To see so many areas achieve 100% and above the national average is heartening and gives a positive message to prospective students and those joining us in the coming weeks,” said Professor Hinfelaar. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“The 5% points increase in overall satisfaction is very welcome news and shows how hard staff are working to further improve the student experience. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Across the UK, the response rate to the 2016 survey was 72%, slightly higher than the previous two years, with 312,000 taking part. The survey was undertaken by final year students from 155 HEIs, 190 FECs and 13 alternative providers of higher education. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Dr David Blaney, Chief Executive of HEFCW, said: “We know there is some excellent work going on at universities to make university teaching even better and to improve the experience students have of higher education. Students should continue to have confidence in the ability of Welsh HE providers to deliver quality education in line with student expectations.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
