Elin Llwyd Morgan was named Feature Writer of the Year at Wales Media Awards. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Elin was chosen after writing three “fascinating and moving pieces” which offered a “valuable female voice within Welsh”. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Among them was an article about her autistic son, Joel, who suffered an episode that saw him become angry and aggressive. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

She said: “Although I worked as a regional newspaper reporter for two years after leaving university back in 1989, I always preferred feature writing to news items,” said Elin. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“I have been writing a monthly column for Welsh current affairs journal ‘Barn’ [Opinion] for the past 10 years or more and really enjoy it. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“I was obviously thrilled to receive the award, although not being a particularly extrovert person I was also very nervous about going up on stage, and was extremely glad that there were no speeches involved!” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
