Careers Day To Guide Prospective Students To Chosen Careers Via Alternative Routes
A leading-edge subject day will guide prospective students who are struggling to find the right course towards their dream career by exploring alternative pathways.
Wrexham Glyndŵr University hosts the What Next? Event on Thursday from 9.45am until 2pm.
The day, organised by the University’s School of Social and Life Sciences (SLS), will look at other routes into degrees for those who may have been denied a place due to competition or having missed out on the required grades.
It’s not too late to apply to Wrexham Glyndŵr for the 2016/17 academic year; programme leaders and lecturers are keen to offer prospective students the advice and expertise needed to make what will arguably be the most crucial decision they’ve ever made.
Among the subjects represented on the day are health, occupational therapy, social work, nursing, education and childcare.
Simon Stewart, Head of the School, said the University’s ‘open to all’ ethos is what sets it apart from many, long-established institutions.
“We want to make life as easy as possible for potential students, but choosing which university to attend is not always an easy decision – it’s a very big step,” said Simon.
“At Wrexham Glyndwr we have many fantastic degrees and courses that can be adapted to suit the needs of our audience, in this case prospective students.
“They might not always have the opportunity to get to where they want to be academically for a variety of reasons, but they need to know there are a variety of different ways to get there, not just the traditional routes – that’s where we come in.”
As well as advice and support, the event will showcase the alternative ways you can begin working towards the job you want.
The day will include a mix of one-to-one sessions with the University’s award-winning careers team, talks covering some of the alternative programme areas available and an opportunity to meet graduates who took different journeys to success.
