‘The Wrexham We Want’ – Public Urged To Give Their Views On Future Of County

Wrexham Glyndwr University is urging people to give their views on the big, long-term issues facing the county borough of Wrexham. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The University is part of Wrexham Public Services Board (PSB), which is working on a plan that will shape both the present and future of Wrexham county. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Called The Wrexham We Want, it will influence how big challenges around things like education, jobs, community safety and healthcare are tackled. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Other agencies involved on Wrexham PSB include the local council, NHS, emergency services, education providers and other agencies. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

In Autumn 2016 the Wrexham PSB partnership asked local people what they wanted Wrexham to be. It also asked what could get in the way of it happening, and what public services and communities would need to do to make it happen. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The answers – combined with other information – will be used to develop a plan to help improve Wrexham over the long-term. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

But before work starts in earnest, the partnership wants to check it has pin-pointed the challenges and issues that people really care about. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Rob Smith, Chair or Wrexham PSB said: “This plan will impact on your life and your families’ lives. So we need to get it right. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“Before we go any further, we need to make sure we understand what is important to Wrexham – the things that affect people and the things people care about. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“It’s not an ‘ask once and walk away’ exercise. We asked for your views in the autumn, and now we’re asking you to check we’ve got the right end of the stick. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“Are these the things that really matter to you? Did we hear you right? Is there anything missing? ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“We’re urging everyone to take part and give us their feedback.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The consultation closes on Monday, February 27. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
