University Opens Its Northop Campus To The Public For Fun-Filled Day Of Nature
Glyndwr University welcomed families and prospective students to a fun-filled day on Saturday.
Northop Nature Educational Day welcomed the community to Glyndwr University’s Flintshire campus to explore the site and get involved with nature.
Visitors were treated to woodland trails, a tour of the animal unit and wildlife talks.
The Flintshire educational day also involved family fun activities including archery, den building and roasting marshmallows with Plas Derw Forest School.
Various organisations were involved with stalls and demonstrations from the Wild Life Trust, RSPB, Field Studies Council and Plas Derw Trust.
Pip Francis, the event’s lead organiser, said it was a great day welcoming families and prospective students.
She said: “The Northop campus is a fantastic resource for Flintshire and we were delighted to welcome the community in to explore the facilities and walk round our beautiful site.
“It was a fun busy day with lots to do for all ages and hopefully we helped inspire people to get involved with nature.”
She added: “The university has many strengths, none more so than in bringing people together, being at the heart of the north east Wales region.
“We’d also like to thank all the charitable organisations for attending the event and helping to make it a great success.”
The North Wales institution has seen its student satisfaction increase by 5 per cent and its employability level to 92.1 per cent.
Courses available in Northop include Wildlife and Plant Biology, Animal Studies and Equine Science and Welfare Management.
The university hope to make the Northop Nature Educational Day an annual event to encourage others to visit the site next year.
Hundreds of people also flocked to the university’s main open day in Wrexham on Saturday with lots to do including campus tours and talks.
