A Gwynedd football club looks set for a pitch-side upgrade if council planners give their approval. An application to develop a modern 100-seater spectator stand at Clwb Peldroed Bontnewydd has been submitted.
Currently several bus-stop type shelters have been used by fans who turn out to watch the matches at the Cae Stanley pitch. Cyngor Gwynedd planners received the application from Llinos Davies, of Boom Cymru, requesting that a new stand be developed at the site on Lôn Caeathro.
The proposals show a modern grandstand, with a four deck seating plan. It is anticipated the building will be constructed of steel, concrete, wood and plastic. The rear of the building shows the word Bontnewydd across its length. The club was set up to give local children the opportunity to play football.
Run by volunteers it has enjoyed league success over the years. One of its former players is the “Cofi Messi”, Darren Thomas, who now plays at the highest level of football in Wales with Caernarfon Town. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
