Bangor St David’s Parade

Bangor will be alive with music and colour on Sunday, 28 February, as local people join together in an early celebration of St David’s Day. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Following the great success of the first parade last year, the organisers are looking forward to a lively event again this year. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Assembling at the Town Clock at 11.30 a.m., the parade, led by local carnival band Bloco Sŵn, will go up the High Street, down past the Cathedral and then on to Pontio. At Pontio, there will be a sing-along led by Cefin Roberts with an appearance also by the Boncathod folk party from the Bethesda area. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The event is being organised by Menter Iaith Bangor in partnership with Hunaniaith and Pontio and with support from Bangor City Council, Dafydd Hardy and Tudur Owen Roberts Glynne & Co. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Tegwen Parri, secretary of Menter Iaith Bangor, said: ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“We hope lots of people of all ages, including whole families, will join us in this celabration of the patron saint of Wales which is also a great way to draw attention to raise the profile of the Welsh language and culture in Bangor.
