Appeal Assault Johnstown, Wrexham

Police are appealing for information after a woman was assaulted in Johnstown near Wrexham. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The incident happened at around 10.30pm on Tuesday January 3 when the young woman, who was walking along Stryt Las was grabbed from behind by a man. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

She screamed and managed to break free before the man ran off along Stryt Las in the direction of Penycae. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The victim was not physically hurt, but was left badly shaken and distressed by the assault. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The suspect is described as about 5ft 10ins tall, of slim build and was wearing a black hoodie, black jogging bottoms and trainers. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

DS Roz Hewitt said; “This was clearly a distressing incident for the young woman and I am appealing for anyone who may have seen a man behaving suspiciously in the area around the time, or who may have heard the victim scream out, to contact police on 101 quoting reference V001435. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“We have deployed extra patrols in the area to reassure local residents.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
