Appeal Following Two Serious Collisions

Police are appealing for witnesses following two serious road traffic collisions which occurred yesterday afternoon (Sunday, April 17). ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The first collision occurred at approximately 13:50hrs outside the Siabod Café on the A5 at Capel Curig involving four vehicles – two cars, a van and a motorcycle. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

As a result of the collision the motorcyclist, a man in his 50’s and from the Wrexham area, was airlifted to hospital in Stoke with serious life threatening injuries. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The second collision occurred a short while later at 15:30hrs in Maentwrog, Blaenau Ffestiniog which involved a motorcycle. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The male rider, who is in his 30’s and from the Cheshire area, was taken by ambulance to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor with serious leg injuries. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Police are appealing for witnesses to both collisions and anybody with information is asked to contact officers at the Roads Policing Unit on 101, or via the live web chat. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Anybody with information regarding the collision on the A5 at Capel Curig should quote reference number U054960 and witnesses to the collision in Maentwrog should quote reference number U055009. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
