Two Corwen schools have drawn on their skills to produce a calendar of safety messages. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Pupils from Ysgol Caer Drewyn and Ysgol Carrog have created their very own school safetycalendar for 2017. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The project, designed to deliver community safety messages in an exciting way, was made possible thanks to funding from the High Sheriff’s Crimebeat Fund and leading IT and business process services company CGI. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

PCSO Ceri-Louise Evans, Geraint Jones (CGI) and Janet Jones former High Sheriff of Clwyd (representing Crimebeat) chose the winning designs, which include messages about road safety, vehicle and woodland safety, bullying, stranger danger, dog fouling and littering, Bonfire night, Halloween and home safety at Christmas. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

PCSO Ceri-Louise Evans said: “The aim of the calendar is to raise awareness of some policing issues and concerns that arise throughout the year. It is to educate the young people in staying safe within their communities ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“I believe that a good relationship with the police is paramount for helping the younger generation stay on the right path and have a healthy relationship with the service.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“As the Safer Neighbourhood Team for the area we pride ourselves on building bridges with the community as a whole, and this project will help a great deal with the youths and the parents, as they will be taking the community safety messages home with them.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

High Sheriff of Clwyd, Jim O’Toole, said: “It was wonderful to see how much the children in each school had enjoyed taking part in this project, and the positive work that PCSO Evans is doing to increase their understanding of personal safety. I was delighted that the High Sheriff’s Crimebeat funding was matched by our co-sponsors CGI and I would like to thank them for their support.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
