Drugs Warrant In Rhyl

An operation in Rhyl to combat drug related violence and disrupt the supply of illegal drugs continued yesterday morning (Wednesday 22nd) when Police executed a Misuse of Drugs Act search warrant in the Bruton Park area of the town. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The search was supported by members the local Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team and although no illegal drugs were recovered a large number of drug related paraphernalia, including ‘sharps’ and ‘needles’ were made safe and taken from the property. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Today’s action was undertaken as part of ‘Operation Damine’ which since May has targeted those concerned in the supply of controlled drugs into the town and the associated violence it inevitably brings with it. Det Constable Alex Smith who led today’s operation said “Since the operation began over 7 weeks ago, 16 people have been arrested with two men charged and remanded for offences of Money Laundering and Possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply. Several others remain on bail. So far we have seized over £6,000 cash and quantities of suspected Class A and B drugs. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

DC Smith added. “Although no drugs were seized today I am confident we sent out a strong message of reassurance to the local community as well as a warning to those who have designs on bringing drugs into the area. In addition we have made the area safer by disposing a large amount of drug related paraphernalia. We will continue with Operation Damine and the community can rest assured further action will follow.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Along with the local Safer Neighbourhood Teams, officers from British Transport Police (BTP) and The North Wales and Cheshire Alliance are also supporting Operation Damine recently carrying out an operation at Rhyl Railway Station utilising a ‘drugs’ dog. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

District Inspector at Rhyl Alwyn Williams said “I’d like to pass on our thanks to the local community, British Transport Police and our other partners for their continued support in helping us keep the area safe. It’s all about working together and sharing concerns and information. Intelligence is key so we can continue to keep the pressure on would-be dealers and effectively target those few individuals who sell drugs in our towns and cause the most harm in our communities.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
