Fatal Collision Near Dolgellau

One person has died and another one injured following a fatal road traffic collision on the A470 near Coed y Brenin, Dolgellau earlier today (Sunday, 5th March). ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

North Wales Police were called just before 2.00pm to a report of a collision outside the visitor centre in Coed y Brenin involving a silver-coloured Renault Megane. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Other emergency services attended the scene and the road is closed in both directions. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Police are appealing for witnesses and anybody who may have information is asked to contact officers at the Roads Policing Unit on 101, quoting reference number V031151. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The road remains closed at this time. Diversions are in place on the junction with the A4212 in Trawfynydd, the A496 in Llanelltyd and in Bron Aber on the A470. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

North Wales Police are not yet in a position to release details of the deceased but the next of kin has been informed. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
