Further Appeal Following Fatal Collision Near Dolgellau
Police are issuing a further appeal for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision near Dolgellau yesterday afternoon (Sunday, March 5th).
Shortly after 2pm North Wales Police received a report of a collision on the A470 outside the Coed-y-Brenin Visitor Centre involving a silver-coloured Renault Megane Dynamique estate car.
Sadly, one man was pronounced dead at the scene and another man was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor by ambulance with minor injuries. He has since been discharged from hospital.
Sergeant Emlyn Hughes from the Roads Policing Unit said: “We are appealing for any witnesses who may have been travelling along the A470 between Dolgellau and the Coed y Brenin area sometime between 1:20pm and 2pm and who recall seeing the silver Renault Megane Dynamique estate travelling northbound along this road to contact us.
“We are also appealing for anyone who saw the car travelling along the A487 between Machynlleth and the junction with the A470 between 12:30 and 12:45 to contact us.
Anybody travelling along those roads yesterday and who may have dash cam footage from their vehicles are also urged to check if a vehicle matching the above description can be seen on the footage.”
The road was closed whilst officers remained at the scene and diversions were put in place. The road re-opened shortly before 10pm.
