Police Seek Witnesses Following Ruthin Burglary

North Wales Police are seeking the public’s assistance following a burglary in the Llys y Berllan area of Ruthin during the early hours of Saturday 3rd December. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Senior Investigating Officer DI Chris Bell at St Asaph CID said “During the break-in the female occupant was injured and required hospital treatment but I’m relieved to say she is now home and being cared for by family and friends but the whole incident has left her understandably traumatised. At this time detectives are analysing local CCTV, conducting house to house enquiries and speaking with local people and other contacts. From enquiries made so far I can say that two men entered the ladies property. Both are about 30 years old, one is about 5’8 tall of slim build and was wearing beige trousers, was clean shaven although he was wearing an item over his face. He didn’t have a local accent. His accomplice was stockier and wore dark clothing” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“This was an appalling act against a defenceless lady and I’d ask anyone who was in the area of Ruthin during the early hours or in the hours leading up to this incident to search their memories for any suspicious behaviour or activity that can assist our investigation and help bring some justice to the victim” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Local Police Inspector Gareth Jones said ‘Local Officers have been liaising with the community over the weekend and speaking to residents to reassure them. Extra ‘high vis’ patrols are also deployed in the area. I would ask anyone with information about this crime to contact police immediately as any piece of information, no matter how insignificant they think it is, may be the missing piece we are looking for. Crimes of this nature are fortunately extremely rare in the area and we have to ensure that remains so but we can’t do this alone and we need assistance to help prevent these incidents in the first place, and so I’d urge that any suspicious behaviour is reported immediately” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

North Wales Police would like to hear from anyone who was in the area between the above times and may have witnessed events to contact them on 101 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 and quote RC16181997. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
