Prestatyn Attempt Robbery Update

Police are making a further appeal for witnesses following an attempt robbery at Barclays Bank in Prestatyn. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The incident happened at 4.50pm yesterday, Thursday 14th April, when either four or five offenders, wearing balaclavas, deliberately drove a vehicle similar to a dark grey Audi Q3 into the side of the bank on Prestatyn High Street. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Detective Sergeant Chris Bell said: “Our inquiries have led us to believe that a car similar to a dark grey Audi Q3 was involved and we are keen to hear from anyone who saw a car of this description driving around Victoria Avenue and along the High Street several times between 2pm and 4.50pm.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“Following the incident we believe that someone must have seen the car travelling the wrong way down Victoria Avenue, which is a one- way street, towards Ffordd Pendyffryn.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

DS Bell added: “We suspect that there will potentially be rear end damage to the car and would ask people to look out for a similar vehicle.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The offenders were unsuccessful in attempting to steal any cash and fortunately no-one was injured during the incident. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
