Pro-Active Day Of Police Action In West Conwy

As part of a pro-active operation earlier today, Thursday 2nd March 2017, six people have been arrested in the West Conwy area. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Police executed three Misuse of Drugs Act search warrants in Conwy town. A quantity of what police believe to be controlled drugs and cash was seized and a local man is his 20s was arrested on suspicion of possessing Class B controlled drugs with intent to supply and money laundering. He is in custody awaiting questioning by detectives. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Police in Llandudno also executed two Misuse of Drugs Act search warrants and although no drugs were recovered a man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of entering the country illegally. He too remains in custody awaiting interview by Immigration Officials. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

During further action in Llandudno two local men aged in their 20s and 30s were arrested for failing to appear at local courts. Both will be placed before the courts at the earliest convenience. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

A Colwyn Bay man in his 30s was arrested for breaching a restraining order and a man in his 20s, also from Colwyn Bay was arrested for burglary and criminal damage. Both remain in custody awaiting interview. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Sergeant Tecwyn Green at Llandudno Police Station, who coordinated today’s action said, “This is part of the continuing work we are undertaking in response to our communities concerns relating to drug use and other issues across West Conwy. This is another example of North Wales Police making a positive impact on our communities through targeting those few who cause the most harm. Today’s action is just the start and further is planned. It is vitally important we listen to concerns from our communities and where necessary take proportionate and positive action. It was clear from the local response today’s operation was very well received.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Possession and distribution of controlled drugs will not be tolerated in our communities and we will continue to take positive, robust action.
