Reptiles And Beat Boxing At Denbighshire Youth Club
There was a mixture of reptiles and beat boxing at a Denbighshire youth club recently.
With help from the Op BANG initiative PCSOs Margo Brandrick and Alex Aldous were able to secure funding to deliver a demonstration by the ‘Animals Out of the Box’ company, whereby youngsters were able to get close to reptiles and other animals in their youth club at the Oak Tree Centre in Rhyl
This was followed by a workshop with a professional beat boxer who provided an event which was of interest to youngsters of a wide range of ages.
The Safer Neighborhood Team have been working closely with the youth clubs and young people in the South West of Rhyl and have built up a very good relationship with many of them.
As well as providing the young people with an insight into animal husbandry and reptile education, the events gave officers an opportunity to engage with them and to talk about antisocial behaviour and the effects it can have not only on the community but also on the emergency services.
PCSO Brandrick said: “Up to 25 young people from the local community attended the events. Working with the young people in the local community, it was a way of breaking down barriers, further developing relations, engaging and educating them in a positive way.”
She added: “It was great to see so many young people and we hope everyone had a great time!”
